What people think about 878 AD

I found the experience so engaging and the living history actors were great at setting the scene and making the whole visit informative and engaging!

The actors inside were talented and engaging. Great sights, sounds and even smells. A very interactive experience - we had an amazing family day out.

This was so much fun! The actors were incredible, shared so much information with us through talking about things like it was their daily lives. We came away having learned so much that we were still talking about it hours later.

Wassail! A great introduction to Saxon kingdoms

Brilliant, immersive exhibition very well put together. Saw a lot of kids there and they were thoroughly enjoying themselves. The reenactments are enjoyable, the artifacts interesting and the audio-visual things extremely well done. And easy to get to.

Great interactive and immersive experience for kids and adults alike. Animated videos, live actors and even real life smells make this a fun and educational place providing fascinating information about Anglo Saxon Winchester!

Brilliant interactive museum. Learned so much about the medieval history of Winchester and King Alfred!

Went with our 9 year old granddaughter, she wants to go again. The actors were brilliant and really made it interesting. We did the walk with the app after and the virtual reality stuff was excellent!

I was very impressed with the high standard of all the displays and thought the inclusion of real objects alongside sophisticated graphics was an excellent and contemporary way of bringing the past to life.

The exhibition is the perfect balance of informative without being too overwhelming, and the immersion with the actors makes it especially enjoyable and brings it all together.

We had such a great time at 878 AD. We learnt so much through the immersive experience and the actors were fantastic. Would recommend to anyone visiting.

Excellent experience; really fun and interesting. Actors help to bring it to life and are very knowledgeable about the area. Suitable for all ages!

878 AD really blew my mind since - I love anything to do with history. The actors were extraordinary and very informative about the history of Winchester.
